The September ChiSeries is proud to feature readings by Craig Davidson, Fiona Patton, Don Bassingthwaite and ukulele performances by Kari Maaren!

Craig Davidson is the author of Rust and Bone. The Fighter, Sarah Court, and Cataract City (forthcoming). He's published fiction and nonfiction in Esquire, GQ, Salon, Men's Fitness, The Walrus and elsewhere. Rust and Bone was recently made into a film starring Marion Cotillard.

Don Bassingthwaite
was born on the fading cusp of a decade but won't tell you which one. He may or may not live in Toronto, but probably does. He's the author of seventeen novels (that he knows about) based on Dungeons & Dragons and other role playing games. He cooks--or so he claims. He may not even really be here tonight. All we know for sure is that when he's asked to deliver a photo and bio ASAP, he does.

Fiona Patton was born in 1962 in Calgary Alberta and spent her formative years under the influence of A. A. Milne, Louisa May Alcott, Frank Herbert, J. R. R. Tolkien and Philip K. Dick, with side orders of Howard R. Gains and Edgar Rice Burroughs. She currently lives in rural Ontario with her spouse, Tanya Huff, two wonderful part-shelties, and a pride of very small "lions," including a tiny little tortie lion who has just taken over the house.

She has written seven fantasy novels, all published by DAW Books. The first four: The Stone Prince, The Painter Knight, The Granite Shield, and The Golden Sword are all set in the same Britain-base world and follow the lives of the same royal family, although each one takes place one hundred years apart. Hedr next three novels: The Silver Lake, The Golden Towe,r and The Shining City are a trilogy set in an Istanbul-based world and follow the very different fortunes of three young street thieves. Her latest novel: The King's Eagle, is currently in rewrites and she hopes to have it finished by this winter.

She has written thirty-seven short stories, most for various theme anthologies. Her latest, entitled Makana, is a fantasy set in ancient Hawaii written for a new Mercedes Lackey Elemental Masters Anthology based on her Elementals books. It will be coming out later this year from Stonehenge Art and Word.

Kari Maaren is a hilarious songwriter and virtuoso on the ukelele and many other instruments! She is a regular at the ChiSeries.
